There is a similar thing in the last photo of this Chinese webpage.
It says that it is a moth egg, egg of Cnidocampa flavescens to be more precise.
So your spotting might be the egg of the Cnidocampa moths.

I think I have it down to an egg of a type of "Stick" insect. Any thoughts?
