Like clumps of apricots pushing through the couch grass. Beautiful to touch. 60mm tall; 40mm across; pileus firm even domed bright orange felt soft; stipe narrow, translucent, graduated white down to dark orange; gills white densely packed with some early signs of forking;
Suburban commercial council grass.
Marasmius oreades? also known as the scotch bonnet or fairy ring mushroom... a very orange version if so but not unknown... the grass was growing very well around this clump which is typical of the species... really needed spore print to confirm. Gills seem dense for marasmius?

also look at Russula flocktoniae
Possibly Marasmius oreades...
Thanks for that Nicholas4. I have found Roger not often useful here down under. He seems to be good for Europe and North America but our spottings usually turn out to be gondwanan. (even when they look the same to me)
Try Rogers Mushrooms. Its a site to id such things.. also an iphone app
Thanks Nicholas4. I'm feeling a little guilty not having an ID on this one yet. You've spurred me into it.
