The Spanish reference gives a wingspan of 4mm for these and bugguide say 5mm, both smaller than this one, but South Africa says up to at least 6mm which is close to this one. My original estimation was based on the net-curtain size being 0.8x1.2mm per square when new but with shrinkage from washing and taking into account curvature of the curtain it could easily be 6mm or less wingspan for this example. The diagnostic white spots forming a V on each wing often get worn away.
Thanks Joshua, it certainly looks and acts like one. Had a quick search for a Genus but can only find how to get rid of them! They are not a big problem here, we keep a clean house and use a biological septic tank. Geckoes take care of them inside the house and they are helped by lizards, spiders and birds outside.

I believe that this is a drain fly.
