Description:

This is the smallest woodpecker of Argentina. No more than 12 cm length almost the same size of a common sparrow. Males shows a red area in the forehead. Chest and abdominal area are white and barred. Dorsal is brown.

Habitat:

I've seen this bird in areas related to the Paraná River basin. There is a continuos forest that runs from Misiones to Buenos Aires.
