Red Swamp Crayfish; Cangrejo Rojo Americano

Procambarus clarkii

Description:

An invasive species but a favourite prey for the Whiskered Terns which appear to keep them under control in this area. They seem to take great delight in taking them high into the air and dropping them, then swooping down to catch them again before they get to the ground!

Habitat:

Irrigation canal in coastal marshes.
