Flower Mantises are those species of praying mantis that mimic flowers. Their coloration is an example of aggressive mimicry, a form of camouflage in which a predator's colours and patterns lure prey. This one was maybe 1/2 inch long.
Seen in my garden in Tiruvannamalai, T.N.
I know this is some sort of flower mantis, but not sure which species...

thank you Arun...
thank subhojit...
Awesome series !!!
pamsai, that is weird. Glad you were able to add it in.
Oh and Joseph, it was just so cute. Tiny and happy to stand still and look at me. Other ones I have photographed were much more shy and always trying to hide, or look the other way!
Huh, funny ForestDragon, I did add it to the mission, I thought, well I clicked on it anyway... Just repeated the action, and I think it's there now. PN not working so well for me at the moment. Often doesn't include pictures I've uploaded, or reference links, but this is the first time I've had a missing mission!!
thanks Doreen and Diaz...
Pamsai, this one looks beautiful!!!
Really nice!
Please consider adding this beauty to the Marvelous Mantids of the World mission: http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/1573...
