Lithobates sphenocephalus
A medium-sized frog with round and oblong spots (like a leopard) on its back and legs. Its back and legs are green and brown and its belly is white. Southern leopard frogs have a raised fold of skin along each side of the back from eye to groin.
Marshy habitat near a large pond. They are also found in flooded ditches, ponds, sloughs, streams and lakes.
The call of the male southern leopard frog sounds like a laughing chuckle or cackle.

Thanks Shanna! And thanks Marylou - that head-on face shot is my favorite too!
Awesome pics!
Love the head-on face shot! Very nice
Thanks! I had fun stomping around in the rainy muck yesterday. Between me and this leopard frog, I'm sure that the frog is the only one who truly enjoyed the weather.
Cool
Wonderful spotting, I love our leopard frogs :)
Just added a better 3rd photo for this spotting. Now we can see the top view of this leopard frog.
Thanks for the compliment C.Sydes! I didn't know that leopard spots were rosette shaped. Thanks for the info!
beautiful photos . . . . [ hate to disillusion you though, Leopards don't have solid spots - they have rosettes ;-) ]
