Indigo Bunting

Passerina cyanea

Description:

The first Indigo bunting of the year just showed up today in Huntley Meadows Park.

Habitat:

Often seen from the boardwalk the Idingo bunting will find a bare limb on the top of a tree and sing it's song. It is a beautiful bird that I look forward to seeing every year.

Matthew, I invite you to join the mission Birds of Huntley Meadows Park and post this spotting (and future bird spottings) at: http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/1325...

Excellent! So glad to see they're back - and I just had one in my yard yesterday! New yard bird! :) If only the morning hadn't been so grey and cloudy, maybe I'd have gotten a decent shot...
