A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Zenaida asiatica
Taupe colored dove with reddish brown eyes, surrounded by blue skinned halo around the eyes. White accent on the ventral side of closed wings gives it its name.
This beautiful specimen was sitting on a nest. Since both genders care for the nest, it's not possible to determine the gender here. My attention was brought to this tree because I heard the sounds of a juvenile grackle screaming. I wasn't able to spot the young grackle in this tree, but found this beautiful surprise instead.
