Honey fungus

Armillaria mellea

Description:

Very tiny sprouting fungi, yellow and fluffy on the cap. The caps smaller than 1 cm. Attached to dead bark. With amethist deceiver (purple mushroom on the side) nearby. I just learned that they can produce bioluminescence! I did not see that on time to go back and check it out.

Habitat:

Meerdaalbos.

It really does! :)
And the bark is colourful, too, so even greater composition of colours :))

Thanks, Sintija! Yes, the purple of the amethyst deceiver next to the yellow honey fungus and the brown bark as background alltogether make a nice contrast :-)

I have just found out through a forum of fungi experts the species: Armillaria mellea. It is just the very young sprouting fungus so it looks very different from the mature ones :-)
