Green Christmas beetle

Repsimus aeneus

Description:

These green Christmas beetles are very highly polished and have red legs. The hind legs in males are very thickened. Females are smaller and more red. The last image is in the sunlight to capture the most reflective angle.

Habitat:

Found on Callistemon plants along the river. There were large numbers. They took to flight very rapidly once disturbed.

I think you must be correct Mark.
You will have to go east to see these. There were hundreds!
ALA has only two species listed and it seems I have seen them both.
