Description:

Tentative ID There were dozens of these flying around landing on us. They have black elytra, legs, antennae and head. The pronotum is red as well as a spot on top of the head. The elytra have a green and blue sheen to them.

Habitat:

Coast Sage Scrub at Elfin Forest Recreational Reserve. The range of this beetle is very small! Only from Los Angeles Co. to San Diego Co

I think so too :) There were dozens flying and landing on us. I keep forgetting that not everyone is a fan of bugs up close so I was the one picking them off of shirts and placing them on bushes.
