Grasshopper with brown and off white markings. Was very camouflaged against the wood mulch. It was approximately 2 inches in length.
This grasshopper was found on our playground sitting in the mulch. Although urban sprawl abounds there is still quite a bit of natural land untouched by city growth in our area.
