Actias luna
Unfortunately this Luna Moth was found on top of the leaves of the forest floor, deceased. :( I've never seen one alive and flying around, but I hope to someday soon.
Deciduous forest.

Fantastic!!
I didn't know you found a Luna Moth. WOW! I found one in pieces on my side walk after a vicious rain storm. Yes, they only live a few days. It was its time. Glad you found it for this photo!
Thanks Karen. I didn't know they only lived for a few days. Interesting. I learn so many things on Project Noah!
Lovely moth Neil! These giant silkmoths only live for a few days, just long enough to breed. They don't eat - in fact they don't even have proper mouths!
