Description:

Phyllostomidae (Leaf Nosed Bats) is a large family restricted to the New World. They are a very diverse group and divided into several subfamilies.

Habitat:

Caves, dark areas such as very shaded branches in trees or rafters of houses.

Notes:

Bats are the second most important pollinator and colonizer apart from butterflies and bees. They are known to recolonize large expanses of land that have been deforested, by dispersing seeds of trees while passing by.
