Springbok

Antidorcas marsupialis

Description:

Dark red-brown band along flanks separates fawn-brown upperparts from white underparts. Head is white with a brown stripe running through eye to corner of upper lip. A large white patch on rump is bordered by a brown stripe. A long-haired, white dorsal crest extends from midpoint of the back to the rump.

Notes:

South Africa's national animal, it is always a pleasure to see these beautiful creatures in the bush. We also managed to spot white, black and copper Springbok at the Mokala national park. I would recommend a visit to anyone who is visiting South Africa.
