Snowberry Clearwing Moth

Description:

Over an inch long head to tip. Hairy body with yellow and black striped abdomen. Flying from flower to flower, it always seemed to keep its body vertical (perpendicular to ground).

Habitat:

Open brushy meadow next to forest.

Thanks Keith for the ID correction! You have keen eyes! I've updated the spotting with the Snowberry Clearwing Moth names and reference link (which does mention those black legs!).

The black legs on this specimen identify it as a Snowberry Clearwing Moth. H. thysbe has light colored legs. Nice images, though.
