Streptopelia decaocto
I found and took photo of 3 birds near the sea flying low with my binoculars. I saw them coming from some trees.
This would be a great addition to the Birds of Europe mission, and I would like to invite you to post this, and any other bird spotting from Greece, to this mission. Link to Birds of Europe mission following : https://www.projectnoah.org/missions/239...
In the first picture is definitely Streptopelia species, most likely S. decaocto. I don't see any other Dove on Greece birdlist that would fit the picture. For the size, the only one bigger in size and fitting into description would be the Woodpigeon (Columba palumbus) - and this is definitely not the one in the pic.
I don't really know much about doves, I just did a quick image search. Hope you can identify it!
At first glance I actually thaught it is an eurasian collared dove because I've seen them multiple times in that specific area but it was quite big. I cannot calculate its size because it was flying really fast. But I think its wingspan wasn't smaller than 70cm.
