The green tint of the moth is mostly due to the camera's flash. In person, the darkest green spots appeared almost black and faded into a medium gray that blended with the khaki color that is seen in this photo.

Well, that makes much more sense than Daphnis nerii. I was having fun imagining how he got overseas, though.
Seems to be some sort of Sphinx moth. Eumorpha pandorus. Pandorus sphinx moth.
