Wild Almond (seedpod)

Sterculia foetida

Description:

Looks like red golf clubs that reveal small, round black seeds inside. The tree was a medium sized one.

Habitat:

By the side of freshwater lake at Santragachi, Howrah.

Notes:

According to Wikipedia: The origin of the name of the bad-smelling Sterculia genus comes from the Roman god, Sterquilinus, who was the god of fertilizer or manure. Taxonomists have a great sense of humour!
