Description:

This slim long tailed hawk that glides holding its wings in a V-shape. It has a large white patch on its rear. It has an owlish face that helps it hear mice and voles beneath the vegetation.

Habitat:

Hunting over a wetland area at Hagerman National Wildlife Area. It made several passes diving into the vegetation.
