A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Toxomerus geminatus
A very tiny hover fly only growing just over 1/4 inch. Adults feed on pollen & nectar. While foraging they are easily disrupted by larger bees and are often observed hovering or perching on foliage nearby. The larvae are very beneficial, feeding on soft bodied insects such as aphids, scales, thrips & small caterpillars.
