Peacock Pansy butterfly

Junonia almana

Description:

Orange with peacock colour at the centre with yellow and black rings around it. Jagged lightning-like marks on top of wings

Habitat:

We were stuck in a traffic jam on a narrow road flanked by small vegetable and fruit displayed for sale on the ground. Suddenly I saw this orange butterfly alight for a moment on these Kinoo fruits (like oranges but bigger and more thick-skinned). It was terribly crowded, a train was passing overhead, just ahead of us and the vehicular congestion was terrible...but for an instant orange on orange was poetry.
