Spotting

Description:

3 reasonably large orange mushrooms. Caps would have been about 90mm diameter.

Habitat:

Growing up the trunk of a tree.

They are indeed. Well let me know if you figure out the ID. I might just peruse your spottings to find the ID's of the other fungi I found today. Sure to have more similar spottings!

These are stunning mushrooms - just the way they come out of the trunk. I think they might be Gymnopilus sp but need to research further.

I just checked for CV's Pholiota in Aus... apparently 1 or 2 unreliable spottings unfortunately. Not surprising since all the weather (and spores?) goes from us to them.

They look like Pholiota aurivella - it's native to New Zealand so it's possible to grow in Australia also...
