We're going there mostly to find frogs and snakes, will just have one or two days for mammals at Itala on the northeastern coast. Ideally we can get one species of cat! I would never dare hope for a wild dog, I know it's highly unlikely!
Wow, that's nice you will be in South Africa next week. Love it there and will go back next March. If you do a Safari, you are likely to see the Big 5. For the Cheetah, I went to a Cheetah conservation program near Cape Town. We got lucky to be able to see the Big 5, all up close :)
It is! There are less than 2,000 left in the wild, that's why I don't think I'll ever see them. I'll be in South Africa next week and will be thrilled to just see a lion, and more ecstatic for a cheetah, hyena, or a leopard. Not expecting to see any predators really though.
We got very lucky, Ashley. Our guides have been tracking this family of wild dogs and every day when they have guests, they give priority to find them and only after that, they move on to the other big animals. They says its a rare sighting!

Thanks, going to Borneo part of Malaysia, Sarawak next week.
Looking forward to see some interesting stuff deep in the jungle :)
Thank you! I look forward to seeing more of your spottings from all over the place :)
I see, looks like an exciting trip.
Itala is not too far from Hluhluwe-Imfolozi, where I saw them :D
Good luck and enjoy your trip!

I can't even explain to you how jealous I am of this! I would LOVE to see a wild dog someday!
