Description:

Simple, long stalked leaves wrap around each other to form a tubular, false stem. Compound inflorescence, on a stem that grows at the center of the leaves. Each flower cluster with a colored, boat shaped bract below. Individual flowers are asymmetric, based on a plan of three.
