Hoatzin with two chicks

Opisthocomus hoazin

Description:

Primitive bird with two stomachs that digests its food via fermentation. This is a companion spotting to http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/123... taken at a different angle where both chicks were visible. The chicks are born with a claw on its wing to help it climb branches near the nest. This is helpful given its habit of diving for the water in case of a predator attack
