Straw-necked Ibis (immature)

Description:

This immature bird lacks the long neck plumes of adult birds, Ibis have long legs, long neck and long beak used for probing the ground and wetlands for beetles, grubs, insects and scraps, belly and chest white, back, tail, wings glossy black with irridescent blue/green often seen in paddocks, often in groups or flocks and also flying high in formation gliding on thermals. Call is more like a croak.

Habitat:

Found throughout Australia in a variety of habitats, this one in cow paddocks close to river environment.
