Crocus Geometer Moth

Xanthotype sospeta

Description:

A typical geometer moth (common). Wingspan 45 mmBright yellow wings with speckled and blotched purple/brown. Males are more heavily patterned mostly. Hosts: Various trees and low plants such as dogwood, catnip and goldenrod.

Habitat:

Meadows (attracted near light)

Notes:

#700 Spot! Celebration! Resembles False Crocus Geometer. Going with Crocus Geometer because of its much larger wingspan and pattern and color fits Crocus Geometer better.
