Indomitable Melipotis Moth

Melipotis indomita

Description:

This common moth is 4-5 cm. It uses Mesquite, Prosopis, as a host plant. Despite its striking markings, when on the ground with rocks and leaves it disappears.

Habitat:

Wildlife habitat garden next to a riparian area with mesquite.

Notes:

Window screen where the lights had been on inside. About 10:00 pm. It left after lights were turned off.
