Habrosyne scripta
moth with "crown" on thorax(most likely caused by "fluff" on the wing that bunches together when folded) and zig zag pattern on wings. Larva feed on rubus sp.
porch light, mixed conifer/hardwood forest
I would love to know what function the structure on it's head/thorax serves - and whether it is a defense when resting, or a adaption for flying
Mine was many years ago, but it does come in handy on occasion. I love the patterns and colors of nature. Landscape was my calling.
I couldn't help but notice your profile, gatorfellows, I also have a degree in art history(and a few credits shy of degrees in fine arts and lit as well)
Thank you for the comments, the webpage(bookmarked) and the ID on this attractive fellow!
