Charming Underwing Moth

Description:

Family: Erebidae, Sub-family: Erebinae, TL 30 mm, WS 50 mm. A common Underwing. Black, gray, orange, blue, brown with intricate design and two white spots. Orange with black bands on HW.

Habitat:

Woodlands. Attracted to light

Notes:

Moth in 3rd photo is Painted Lichen Moth (Hypoprepia fucosa) TL 16 mm

I changed my mind about this ID. If you could help. I put this up on an insect guide help at FB and there were 3 different recommendations and none confirmed. Thanks!

Thanks for the recommendation. I think I actually have two other spots of the lichen moth.

Hi Carol! May be you can crop the other moth and show it as separate spotting. is also very pretty! Is it very warm in your area? Here the summer is being really mild and rather rainy and there is not many moths around..helas!
