Black Witch Moth

Ascalapha odorata

Description:

Big moth, about 12.5 cm wingspan (5 inches). When I was a kid I use to see many of them during August or September. When we found them in the classroon it was a riot because they said that if the "dust" of the wings fell on your head you would go bald, maybe that is what happened to me ha ha. But this is the first one I see in more than 15 years, I thought they were gone forever, I'm glad they are back.

Habitat:

Semi desert
