Dobsonfly

Corydalus sp.

Description:

Utterly terrifying and very large insect with giant mandibles. Looked as it was made to destroy everything in its path. Considered beneficial! (You'd hate to see what it would do if it wasn't beneficial...)

Habitat:

Sandy scrub near sluggish river in Texas Hill Country.

Notes:

I have never been so afraid of an insect in my life. I love nature, but there are limits.
