Parthenos sylvia

Description:

A day old clipper butterfly in a pupa phase. It looks like a folded leaf and 3mm long. Transition period from caterpillar to pupa phase usually takes place bet 11:00 pm to 12:00 midnight. The butterfly remains in this suspended animation state for 9 days. On the 9th day, the adult caterpillar emerges from its chrysalis between 4:00 - 4:30 at dawn. This observations I have recorded only with this species.

Habitat:

The caterpillar looks for a spot to spin a fine silken girdle support where it can have a good camouflage.
