Description:

These prickly pear cactus are ripening along the beachfront of the Italian Riviera where they are known as Indian figs in reference to the American "Indians" who cultivate them in their native range in Mexico and sothern US.

Habitat:

Urban landscaped sandy beachfront of the Versilia coast of the Ligurian Sea.
