Pyrocephalus rubinus
Bright red bird with black wings.
In a tree next to a pond in a city park.
stunners indeed. The beak makes these flycatchers look extra cute.
I've never been able to get very close to them at all! I have quite a bit of zoom on my camera so sometimes get good shots, but I get many more terrible shots of them haha
Weird, I've heard many times that they're unafraid of humans...can't trust the books all the time!
I just spent the day chasing/photoing vermilions in So Arizona. They are shy and hard to approach. Good job Ashley!
Yay! Awesome. :) Can't wait haha
You should see plenty in south TX!
Yeah in Southeastern Arizona. Only 1 adult male though, and I didn't really get a shot I was pleased with.
Have you seen one yet?
Nice!! They are stunners.
