I found this dead chrysalis attached to a palm leaf.
Hi Jolly. Would love to have this spotting and the others in your butterfly collection to be included in this mission - http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/1555... (Butterflies in the Philippines). :)
Bayucca, if you say that EarlyStages is an expert, I suggest you make him a ranger.
Hi Jolly, of course, please have your expert reference . . .
* The Life Histories of Asian Butterflies Vol. 1 by Igarashi & Fukuda, 1997; plates 126~128 and other Amathusiini
* Contributions to the knowledge of the Lepidoptera of the Philippines II by Nässig & Settele: Nachr. Entomol. Ver. Apollo, Supplement 14, 1995; pages 48, 49, & 52
Hi Jolly, just for your info: EarlyStages IS THE expert ;-)...! You can trust him.
No. This was spotted in a friend's garden. This is not in a butterfly exhibit. About your ID suggestion, I need to have a confirmation from the experts. I cannot decide whether your suggestion is correct since the link only shows the mature butterfly and not the chrysalis.
The Koh-i-Noor (Amathuxidia amythaon) is also possible since I know nothing about its immatures. Jolly, is this an enclosed butterfly exhibit?
