A strange dark brown bee like moth with a tuft of hair on the tail.
Thanks Smith'Zoo and Jeannette. J, I vaguely saw the hind wings when it was fluttering against the window pane. I could only judge a reddish brown color.
Very strange indeed, imposing moth. Well done!

Did you happen to see the hindwing? I am thinking it is in the genus Macroglossum.
