Shield Bug

Poecilometis nigriventris

Description:

About 12-15mm from head to tip of the abdomen; head and thorax are dark with left/right symmetrical yellow lines, forewings are brown with pale line-pattern, and legs and antennae are orange/black banded. These look like warning colours, so this guy is probably distasteful to predators.

Habitat:

Arid region around the Kennedy Range in Western Australia.
