Mountain Chickadee

Poecile gambeli

Description:

Slight higher elevation than the Black-capped Chickadee, I can find these Mountain Chickadees. These look slightly different than most of the other Chickadees. Though they still have a black cap and black throat, there is a white line that runs from the bill and over the eye and to the back. I always think it gives them and angry look. Song is also different than the Black-capped.

Habitat:

Usually found in forests of higher elevations than the Black-capped. These are mostly found in the mid to western states and north. This one I found at the foothills on a forested residential street.
