Quiscalus quiscula
Common grackles are large blackbirds that are very common in the mid-west. Their heads have a blue glossy appearance. Although their body appears black, it is actually a bronzy, iridescent color. Their eyes are golden yellow. They are omniovors feeding on seeds, berries, insects, and sometimes small rodents or reptiles.
Grackles are found in both suburban and rural areas and tend to feed along the ground.

Thank you Jim! I am with you - annoying but beautiful bird:)
You have cast a whole new light on what I have otherwise considered an obnoxious bird. Great Shot!
Thank you James!
