Rainforest Vine Moth

Description:

With a wingspan of 50 mm, this dark attractive moth was a delight to see in flight. It had a Y shaped marking on each side stretching from the head to a broad diagonal white band on each hind wing. The hind wings were also dark with a yellow spot on each wing. The abdomen had bright yellow bands.

Habitat:

Spotted flying around the forest floor in a conservation reserve.
Cabbage Tree NCR, Marlo.

Notes:

Larvae feed of forest vines in the family Apocynaceae.
Family - Erebidae
Subfamily - Calpinae
