Description:

Biennial thorny climbing shrub, whose branches produce stems with leaves the first year, and 3 petaled leaves and flowers (and fruits) the second year, then die out. The root system is perennial

Habitat:

Seen under the trees on borders of protected marshy area of Mategnin, bordering also an agricultural field. Semi-urban suburbs of Geneva.

Notes:

Petals are edible and used to decorate salads; fruits are highly prized raw, or prepared in jams, jelly or pies.
