Orange-crowned Warbler

Vermivora celata

Description:

4 1/2-5 1/2" (11-14 cm). Olive green above with orange crown feathers, which usually remain hidden. Olive-yellow underparts with very faint breast streaking. No eye ring or wing bars.

Habitat:

Water feature in wildlife habitat yard.

Notes:

It was a relatively cold morning. A front had come in the night before and temperatures were only in the upper 20s. Birds of all types showed up around mid-morning for water.
