Braconid wasp

subfamily Braconinae

Description:

An attractive, black tinted winged insect with long straight antennae, an abdomen black on top and white underneath with some black spots, orange thorax, black head. As I was trying to set up the camera it fly ever so gently into a spider web. The little orb weaver wasted no time in attacking it but it broke free and fly off. Movie mode would have been better.

Habitat:

A country town nature reserve among grasses.

Notes:

subfamily: Braconinae genus: Bracon http://bie.ala.org.au/species/urn:lsid:b... Thanks Stephen Thorpe for direction.
