Antlion sand pit trap

Myrmeleontidae

Description:

This is a sand pit made by the Antlion larvae. It stays burried with only its jaws exposed (if at all). It waits for prey to climb down or fall into the trap. The second and third image shows the tracks of the larvae which walks backwards.
