Trilobite beetle arthropod found on leafy forest floor in Bukit Kiara, Malaysia. 3.5cm long. Six-legged. 3 rows of hard protective shield in the head and thorax region. Abdominal section has 9 rows of hard pedunculated spinous knobs. Colour: dark brown with bright yellow-brown highlights. Head and tiny antennae is retractable. Goes under the hard thoracic shieds when touched. Moves very slowly. body moves in waves as the legs walk. There is a white coloured suction cup at the rear end of the abdomen that pushes the organism along as it walks. also acts like a suction cup when it walks down steep terrain! Stays still and feigns death when disturbed. thanks JeffCrocombe for identifying the genus
