Description:

Only 50mm across the cap. Cap ws flat to dished in the centre and the margin was still quite inrolled. Stipe was fibrous and distinctly dark to black up to the pore surface. Pores were large and ovate with pale yellow colour.

Habitat:

Suburban reserve, in woodchips which are overlaid with 'En tout cas' from the tennis court nearby.

:-o I thought your fungus season was during our (the UK's) winter and spring (November/December to April/May). It must go through your winter (if winter even exists in Australia :D)

You're right - it looked really ordinary from above but weird from below. Surely this marks the end of our fungi season.
