Tiger Moth

Spilosoma sp.

Description:

This cutie is either an Agreeable Tiger Moth (Spilosoma congrua) or a Virginian Tiger Moth (Spilosoma virginica). I forgot to try to check the abdomen. The only major difference in the physical appearance between the adults of these two species is that S. congrua has a pure white abdomen and S. virginica has yellow markings. National Moth Week 2017

Habitat:

Suburban. Resting on a leaf in a field next to a business.
